·      Determine your energy goals as soon as possible. If your goal is to merely meet the energy requirements, rather than use less energy then, then your HVAC system needs will be different. This difference will be reflected in both type and size of system.

·      Plan for expansion but don’t automatically buy for it. While you may expect your HVAC needs to change in the future, it is better to buy for the needs of today. Otherwise, you will be wasting money on a system that may very well be obsolete by the time you make the space expansion.

·      Plan now for maintenance and operation needs. When you select an HVAC system, keep in mind that it will require a certain level of maintenance in order to run at its full potential. You will need someone onsite who understands the various components of your chosen system.  Ideally, these people will be trained to understand the controls and equipment needs, so that they can keep your HVAC unit running properly.

Energy Recovery
For comfort, health, and safety, places where people work require adequate ventilation. However, ventilation air is very expensive to condition from an energy standpoint. When outside air for ventilation is brought into a building or a space, all, or most of it, has to be exhausted to prevent pressure build up inside the building. The building owner or tenant has already paid to heat or cool the air that’s being exhausted, so a great deal of money is spent on energy costs. Energy Savings
As we know, ventilation air is very expensive to heat, cool, and dehumidify. Re-circulated air that returns to the unit from the conditioned space is typically 75 F and 50% relative humidity. To cool and dehumidify the air, the air conditioning unit cools it from 75 F down to 55 F and removes moisture at the same time.

Ventilation air brought in from the outside on a hot summer day can be from 92 F to 105 F or higher if the building is located in the desert southwest. It takes a lot more energy to cool air from 92 or 95 F to 55 F and that’s why energy recovery makes so much sense.

Energy recovered by the MJC Air to Air Plate Energy Recovery Unit is used to cool down the incoming air from 95 F to around 81 or 82 F in most applications, which reduces the work the air conditioner has to do, thus saving utility costs. These units work the same way for wintertime heating by recovering heat and moisture from the air being exhausted and adding it to the incoming ventilation air.

Moisture & Comfort
Much of the discomfort we feel indoors, comes from having too much or too little moisture in the air. The MJC Air to Air Plate Energy Recovery unit removes moisture from the incoming air in the summer and adds moisture to the incoming air in the winter; saving energy and making the occupants feel more comfortable.

Lower Maintenance Cost
At the heart of the MJC unit is an air-to-air plate heat exchanger. Unlike “wheel” type units, the air-to-air plate heat exchanger has no bearings, belt, gears, or motor and under normal use can be cleaned with a shop vacuum.

· Corners and structural posts – 18 Ga. galvanized sheet metal
· Panels are single wall construction – 18 Ga. galvanized sheet metal (foil face rigid insulation or fiberglass blanket)
· Access doors are located to provide easy access to fans, motors, filters, core, and controls
